TIRUPATI, Andhra Pradesh – The Andhra Pradesh government has launched a new initiative to empower women involved in DWACRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) self-help groups by providing them with digital marketing access. The initiative, spearheaded by the Urban Poverty Alleviation Mission (MEPMA), involves a dedicated app called “MyStore,” designed to function similarly to Amazon and Flipkart.

The app aims to increase sales of products crafted by DWACRA women, significantly boosting their income. MEPMA has already facilitated bank linkages and welfare schemes for DWACRA groups in urban areas. Many women are already engaged in various businesses including handicrafts, handloom textiles, and food products, but often lack effective marketing and pricing strategies.

MyStore offers a commission of only 6 percent on sales, significantly lower than other online platforms. Payments are directly deposited into the DWACRA women’s bank accounts. Currently, the app features approximately 352 unique products from Chittoor and Tirupati districts, with plans to add 121 more. Initial sales have already reached ₹29,100, with terracotta figurines from Palamaner proving particularly popular. 237 women have already listed their products on the platform.

“Our goal at MEPMA is to empower DWACRA women economically,” said Radhamma, MEPMA PD. “We have taken steps to ensure their business growth.” The app is available for download on the Play Store and offers door-to-door delivery within seven days of purchase.
