**CHENNAI, INDIA** – Acclaimed Tamil actress Nayanthara has publicly accused fellow actor and producer Dhanush of acting out of “vengeance” in a dispute over the use of footage from the 2015 film *Naanum Rowdy Dhaan* in her new Netflix documentary. In a scathing Instagram post on Saturday, Nayanthara detailed her frustration with Dhanush’s alleged refusal to grant permission for the use of a short song snippet, demanding a ₹10 crore (approximately $1.2 million USD) fee in return.
Nayanthara, whose husband Vignesh Shivan directed *Naanum Rowdy Dhaan*, described the film as “the most special and important film” in her career. She alleges that Dhanush, who produced the film under his Wunderbar Films banner, is harboring a personal grudge, stemming from the film’s success. Nayanthara claims Dhanush’s actions are not only targeting her and her husband but also the entire team who worked on the documentary.
The actress further claimed Dhanush’s actions are driven by a bruised ego following the film’s box office triumph and accused him of making hurtful pre-release comments that caused her lasting emotional damage. While acknowledging the legal aspects of copyright, Nayanthara appealed to Dhanush’s conscience, emphasizing the moral implications of his actions.
Dhanush’s legal team has reportedly sent a legal notice to Nayanthara over the unauthorized use of the footage. Nayanthara has vowed a “befitting” legal response, questioning the fairness of demanding such a substantial fee for a mere three-second clip.
Vignesh Shivan, Nayanthara’s husband, has publicly supported his wife, sharing a video of Dhanush advocating for positivity and a hate-free life. The public airing of this dispute has sparked considerable interest and debate within the Tamil film industry.
