**Belagavi, Karnataka, November 16, 2024** – A shocking incident of assault and public disrobing has sparked outrage in Belagavi, Karnataka, after a video of the event went viral on social media. A mother and daughter were allegedly attacked by their neighbours on November 11th, with the incident only coming to light on Saturday.
The victims, residents of Waddarawadi, allege that they were dragged from their home, stripped, and assaulted by Indra Ashtekar, Huvappa Ashtekar, and Manikanth Ashtekar. The suspects reportedly acted on suspicion that the women were involved in prostitution.
Malamaruti Station Police have registered a case against the three accused following the release of the video. However, the victims further allege that their initial complaint to the police was ignored.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Rohan Jagadish confirmed the incident, calling it “unfortunate.” He stated that four investigative teams have been formed to thoroughly examine the case and ascertain whether police negligence occurred in handling the initial complaint. If misconduct is proven, appropriate action will be taken against the responsible officers.
The daughter, who is reportedly separated from her husband in Maharashtra and has two children, had returned to her mother’s home in Belagavi due to alleged marital problems.
