**Jhansi, UP:** A devastating fire at Jhansi Medical College’s newborn ward resulted in the tragic deaths of ten infants, while 37 others were rescued. Following the incident, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak visited the hospital, met with the families of the victims, and ordered an immediate investigation into the use of lime on the streets following the fire, deeming it unacceptable. He also addressed concerns regarding the fire safety equipment, stating that they were functioning correctly, contradicting initial reports of expired equipment.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh each to the families of the deceased infants and ₹50,000 each to the families of the injured newborns.
