**Tehran, Iran – November 13, 2024** – Mohammad Ali Salamat, a 43-year-old Iranian man convicted of raping approximately 200 women over two decades, has been publicly executed, Iranian state media reported today. Salamat, who operated a pharmacy and gym in Hamedan, was hanged on Tuesday morning following the confirmation of his death sentence by Iran’s Supreme Court in October.
Salamat’s crimes, spanning 20 years, allegedly involved luring victims under the pretense of marriage or dating before assaulting them. He is also accused of providing some victims with illegal abortion pills. His arrest in January marked the largest number of rape accusations ever attributed to a single individual in Iran, prompting public outcry and calls for capital punishment.
