Sat Nov 16 17:14:23 IST 2024: ## Tasmac Employees Advocate for Kerala’s Liquor Sales Model

**Thanjavur, November 16, 2024** – The Tasmac Employees’ State Federation urged the Tamil Nadu government to adopt Kerala’s liquor sales system, citing inefficiencies in the current process. Federation general secretary K. Thiruchelvan criticized the new barcode scanning and billing system, claiming it slows service to three to four minutes per customer and creates pressure to meet digital transaction quotas. He argued that the Kerala model, where customers pay at a counter and receive their liquor at a separate delivery counter, would be more efficient for both customers and employees.

Thiruchelvan also condemned alleged political interference in Tasmac administration, warning it could damage the state government’s reputation. He further expressed concern over the closure of approximately 500 Tasmac outlets while simultaneously allowing private liquor sales through FL2 licenses issued to recreation clubs. The Federation believes the adoption of the Kerala model would address these issues and improve the overall system.
