Sat Nov 16 08:08:16 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru’s New E-Khata System Uncovers Thousands of Duplicate Property Records

**Bengaluru, November 16, 2024** – The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)’s new online e-Khata system, designed to streamline property records, has unexpectedly unearthed thousands of duplicate entries in the city’s property registers. The digitalization process, which involves scanning existing manual records and uploading them to the http://www.bbmpeAasthi.karnataka.gov.in portal, has revealed that many properties are listed twice.

Several property owners have reported finding duplicate records of their properties on the e-Khata platform. Murali Krishna, a resident of Kengeri, discovered his property listed under two different property identification numbers and in two separate books (A 26 and A 25). He’s not alone; BBMP officials confirm numerous similar cases. The duplication, according to officials, stems from errors made when property records were transferred from the City Municipal Council to the BBMP.

BBMP Special Commissioner (Revenue) Munish Moudgil clarified that while the new system has highlighted these inconsistencies, property owners need not be alarmed. He assured that only one final e-Khata will be approved for each property, using the official sale deed as verification. The system is designed to prevent the approval of multiple e-Khatas for the same property, even if duplicate drafts exist. Over 48,000 final e-Khatas have already been issued since the system’s launch. The BBMP helpline is available to assist property owners facing similar issues.
