Sat Nov 16 13:41:58 UTC 2024: ## AIADMK Accuses Tamil Nadu CM of Halting Previous Government’s Projects
**Madurai, November 16, 2024** – AIADMK MLA P. Thangamani has accused Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of deliberately halting development projects initiated by the previous AIADMK government. Speaking at a protest in Madurai on Saturday, organized by Tirupparankundram MLA V.V. Rajan Chellappa, Thangamani cited stalled projects like underground drainage systems and drinking water supply schemes as examples of the alleged inaction.
He questioned the CM’s claim of implementing beneficial schemes, pointing out the alleged stagnation of projects started under the previous AIADMK administrations led by Jayalalithaa and Edappadi K. Palaniswamy. Thangamani further criticized the DMK government for significant tax increases on houses, properties, and water within two years of taking office, contrasting this with the AIADMK’s decade-long tenure without tax hikes. He argued that the revenue generated from these increased taxes should have funded development projects, but this has not materialized. Even the highly publicized ₹1,000 monthly allowance for women, Thangamani claimed, was only implemented due to persistent pressure from Palaniswamy.
