BAREILLY, UTTAR PRADESH, Nov 16, 2024 – Jagdish Singh Patani, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police and father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, has filed a police complaint alleging he was defrauded of ₹25 lakh by a group of five individuals. The incident took place in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.
According to a First Information Report (FIR) filed on Friday at the Bareilly Kotwali police station, the accused—Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash, Preeti Garg, and one unidentified individual— promised Mr. Patani a high-ranking position in a government commission. The accused allegedly leveraged their purported political connections to gain his trust before obtaining ₹25 lakh – ₹5 lakh in cash and ₹20 lakh via bank transfers.
After three months with no progress on the promised position, and following threats from the accused when he demanded a refund, Mr. Patani reported the incident to the police. The accused are charged with cheating, criminal intimidation, and extortion. Police are currently investigating and working to apprehend the suspects.
