Sat Nov 16 12:15:42 UTC 2024: ## Bollywood Star Disha Patani’s Father Falls Victim to Rs. 25 Lakh Scam

**Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh:** The rising number of financial crimes in India has claimed another victim: the father of renowned Bollywood actress Disha Patani. Jagdish Singh Patani, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, has filed a complaint alleging a Rs. 25 lakh (approximately $300,000 USD) fraud.

Patani reported that he was approached by ShivendrapraTap Singh, Divakar Garg, Acharya Jayaprakash, Preeti Garg, and an unidentified individual. These individuals promised him a senior position in a government commission, leveraging purported strong political connections. They reportedly claimed they could secure him a post as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, or another high-ranking government role. They also introduced a man named Himanshu as an Officer on Special Duty.

Patani paid Rs. 25 lakh – Rs. 5 lakh in cash and Rs. 20 lakh transferred to three different bank accounts – before realizing he had been scammed. Despite the payment, Patani received no progress towards securing the promised position. The accused then allegedly promised to return the money with interest, but failed to do so.

An FIR has been registered against the accused under charges of fraud, criminal intimidation, and extortion. Police in Bareilly’s Civil Lines area have launched an investigation into the matter.

This incident comes as Disha Patani’s latest film, “Kanguva,” starring alongside Tamil superstar Surya, recently premiered in theaters to mixed reviews. Patani has also appeared in films such as “Kalki 2898 AD.”
