Sat Nov 16 21:11:53 IST 2024: ## GHMC Ordered to Boost Self-Help Group Formation and Loan Targets
**Hyderabad, November 16, 2024** – The Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration & Urban Development, M. Dana Kishore, has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to accelerate the formation of new self-help groups (SHGs) and secure substantial bank loans for them.
At a review meeting on Saturday, Mr. Kishore emphasized the need to identify and enroll eligible women not already part of existing SHGs. He set a target of completing the formation and registration of new groups by the end of December 2024, with all new SHGs linked to area and town federations.
To achieve this, Mr. Kishore instructed officials to develop a monthly action plan to secure at least ₹200 crore in bank loans per month. He also stressed the importance of providing business orientation training to established SHGs, suggesting workshops involving bankers, NGOs, and civil society organizations. These organizations will be mapped at the circle level to support entrepreneurship development. Further workshops are planned for GHMC officials and other stakeholders.
In addition to the SHG initiatives, Mr. Kishore also oversaw preparations for a three-day carnival scheduled for December 7th-9th at the Tank Bund. The meeting was attended by several senior GHMC and MAUD officials.
