Sat Nov 16 06:17:48 UTC 2024: ## Koala Crashes Adelaide Couple’s Bedroom in Unexpected Late-Night Visit

**Adelaide, Australia** – An Adelaide couple received a rather unusual welcome home Wednesday morning when they discovered a koala had made itself comfortable in their bedroom. Fran Dias Rufino and her husband, Brunno, returned to their east Adelaide home around 12:30 AM to find the marsupial perched near their bed.

Ms. Rufino, who shared the experience on Instagram, described her initial reaction as a mixture of fear, excitement, and surprise. Video footage shows the koala exploring the room, jumping onto a bedside table before leaping onto the bed. While initially hesitant, Mr. Rufino eventually managed to guide the koala out of the house. Ms. Rufino noted the animal displayed some aggression during the encounter.

The unexpected guest highlights the presence of koala populations in South Australia, where numbers are currently considered stable, in contrast to the precarious situation facing koalas in other parts of the country. Concerns remain regarding the long-term survival of koalas in areas like New South Wales and Queensland, threatened by habitat loss, disease, bushfires, and drought. Despite a national recovery plan implemented in 2022, the outlook for wild koalas in many regions remains uncertain.
