Sat Nov 16 12:40:22 UTC 2024: ## Telangana Government Approves 863 Houses for Landowners Displaced by Kakatiya Mega Textile Park

**Hyderabad, November 16, 2024** – The Telangana government has approved the construction of 863 houses for landowners displaced by the development of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal. The ₹5 lakh per unit project, funded under the Indiramma Indlu scheme’s State Reserve Quota (SRQ), will provide housing for those who relinquished their land for the park’s construction.

The decision follows a proposal from the Warangal District Collector, endorsed by the Telangana Housing Corporation Limited (TGHCL), which highlighted the need for adequate rehabilitation measures for the affected landowners. The government relaxed certain eligibility criteria to accommodate the displaced beneficiaries. An order to this effect (G.O. No. 40) was issued by the Department of Transport, Roads and Buildings (TR&B) on Saturday.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who visited the 1,200-acre textile park in June, had instructed officials to ensure the housing layout included essential amenities such as roads, power, water supply, and waste management. He also announced the ₹5 lakh grant per plot.

The KMTP, whose foundation stone was laid by former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in 2017, has resulted in the displacement of approximately 1,000 farmers over the past five years. The Managing Director of TGHCL and the Warangal District Collector will oversee the implementation of the new housing project.
