Sat Nov 16 16:15:28 UTC 2024: ## Yemen’s Houthis Claim Attack on US Warships in Bab el-Mandeb Strait, Force Retreat

**Aden, Yemen** – Sayyid Abdul Malik Badruddin Al-Houthi, the supreme leader of Yemen’s Houthi movement, has claimed responsibility for attacks on US warships in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Al-Houthi stated that the attacks forced the USS Abraham Lincoln, and other unnamed US vessels, to retreat hundreds of miles, and that no US warships have since entered the Red Sea. He alleges that US ships are now operating covertly in the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean, sometimes near African coastlines.

Al-Houthi attributed the success of the attacks to divine assistance, characterizing them as faith-based operations rooted in the Quran. He specifically mentioned targeting two US warships in the Red Sea, forcing their withdrawal. The attacks, he claimed, were a direct response to ongoing US airstrikes in Yemen and continued US support for Israel’s actions in Gaza.

The Houthi leader further stated that his forces launched 29 ballistic missiles and drones against American and Israeli targets this week alone. He listed targets inside Israel as Jaffa, Ashkelon, Al Rashrasha, and an airbase in the Negev desert. The Houthi movement has vowed to continue attacks as long as the US continues to support Israel’s actions in Gaza. The claims made by Al-Houthi have not been independently verified.
