Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: Jagdish Patani, retired DSP and father of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, has filed a police complaint alleging a ₹25 lakh fraud. Five individuals are accused of defrauding Mr. Patani under the pretense of securing him a high-ranking position in a government commission.
According to Bareilly police station SHO DK Sharma, the FIR names Shivendra Pratap Singh, Divakar Garg, Acharya Jay Prakash of the Juna Akhara, Prati Garg, and one other individual. The accused allegedly promised Mr. Patani a prestigious position, possibly chairman or vice-chairman, within a government commission. They reportedly received ₹5 lakh in cash and ₹20 lakh through three separate bank transfers.
When Mr. Patani failed to see any progress after three months, the accused allegedly threatened him upon his request for a refund. To bolster their fraudulent claims of political influence, the accused introduced a colleague as an “Officer on Special Duty,” further misleading Mr. Patani.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter and are working to locate the accused. The case highlights a growing trend of individuals using false promises of influence and high-level positions to perpetrate financial fraud.
