**Jeddah, Saudi Arabia** – The highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction, scheduled for November 24th and 25th in Jeddah, has revealed a surprising shortlist of 574 players from an initial 1574 registrants. Several high-profile names are missing, creating a buzz amongst fans and analysts.

Notably absent are England’s fast bowler Jofra Archer and Australia’s all-rounder Cameron Green. Other notable exclusions include India’s Amit Mishra, England’s Jason Roy and Chris Woakes, and USA’s Saurabh Netravalkar.

Archer, despite being purchased by Mumbai Indians in 2023 despite injury concerns, played only five matches and has been hampered by recurring injuries. Green’s absence is reportedly due to a six-month recovery period from injury, rendering him unavailable. Mishra, a veteran leg-spinner, failed to make the cut after playing for Lucknow Super Giants last season. Roy’s exclusion is speculated to be related to his previous reluctance to play at lower price points. Netravalkar, who impressed in the 2024 T20 World Cup, also did not feature on the shortlist. Woakes’ absence is reportedly linked to a high base price. England’s Ben Stokes is also not participating, having opted not to register for the auction.

The omission of these prominent players has raised eyebrows and generated considerable discussion leading up to the mega auction. The final list of 574 players will compete for spots in the various IPL franchises.
