**Mehsana, Gujarat:** A moderate earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck Mehsana, Gujarat, at approximately 10:15 PM on Friday night. The tremor, which lasted two to three seconds, caused panic and prompted residents to evacuate their homes in several districts including Mehsana, Patan, Sabarkantha, and Banaskantha. However, initial reports indicate no casualties or significant damage.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located 13 kilometers southwest of Patan, at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismological Research (ISR). The coordinates were recorded at 23.71 North latitude and 72.30 East longitude.

The Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) noted that the state has experienced nine major earthquakes in the last 200 years, including the devastating 2001 Bhuj earthquake. Authorities are currently assessing the situation.
