Fri Nov 15 23:43:09 IST 2024: ## Gujarat Rattled by 4.2 Magnitude Earthquake; No Major Damage Reported

**Ahmedabad, Gujarat –** A 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Gujarat late Friday night, sending residents scrambling out of their homes in fear. The quake, which struck at 10:15 PM, was centered near Mehsana district at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). Tremors were also felt in Ahmedabad, particularly in the Wadaj, Ankura, and New Wadaj areas.

While initial reports indicate no major damage or casualties, panic ensued as residents spent the night outdoors, fearing aftershocks. Experts from the NCS stated that while minor tremors are occasionally felt in the Mehsana region, a quake of this magnitude is relatively uncommon. The earthquake is believed to be caused by the movement of tectonic plates.

Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and follow safety guidelines during seismic activity, advising people to seek shelter under sturdy furniture or away from walls during an earthquake. The NCS has advised continued vigilance and issued safety guidelines via its official channels and BhooKamp app.
