Fri Nov 15 17:12:13 IST 2024: ## Tonk SDM Assault Case: Independent Candidate Naresh Meena Sent to Judicial Custody

**Tonk:** Naresh Meena, an independent candidate from the Deoli-Uniyara constituency, was arrested by the Tonk police on Thursday after he allegedly slapped the SDM (Sub Divisional Magistrate) on election duty. Following his arrest, Meena’s supporters staged violent protests, including arson and road blockades.

Meena was presented before the court through video conferencing and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. He has been shifted to Tonk Jail.

The incident occurred on November 13th during polling for the Deoli-Uniyara by-election. Meena allegedly assaulted SDM Ankit Choudhary after a heated argument.

Meena’s supporters went on a rampage, burning vehicles and blocking highways. The police deployed heavy security forces to control the situation and prevent further damage.

BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena reached the spot to calm down the supporters and appealed for peace.

The incident has sparked outrage among the administrative and police officers, with the RAS Association demanding armed security for their members.

While the situation remains tense, the police are closely monitoring sensitive areas and have arrested over 60 people in connection with the violence.
