**COIMBATORE, November 15, 2024:** Three dhabas in rural areas of Coimbatore district were sealed on Friday for selling liquor to customers. This action follows surprise inspections conducted by the police recently, revealing that 18 dhabas were illegally selling or allowing customers to consume liquor brought by them.
Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan requested the Revenue and Excise Departments to take action against these establishments. The police seized approximately 100 bottles of liquor from the dhabas, which were located in the jurisdictions of Annur, Kovilpalayam, Karumathampatti, Chettipalayam and Sulur police stations.
Officials from the Revenue and Excise Departments, accompanied by the police, initiated action on Friday, sealing three of the dhabas. A senior police officer confirmed that the remaining establishments on the list will be sealed in the coming days.
