Fri Nov 15 08:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Threads Still Boasting Millions of New Users Despite Bluesky’s Rise
**San Francisco, CA -** Despite the growing popularity of the decentralized social media platform Bluesky, Instagram and Threads boss Adam Mosseri has asserted that Threads remains a significant force, gaining over 15 million new users in November alone. This comes just a day after Bluesky announced it had surpassed 15 million users in total.
Mosseri further emphasized Threads’ continued growth, highlighting that the platform has consistently attracted over a million new users daily for the past three months. This claim was originally made by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg during last month’s earnings call.
While Threads’ popularity is undeniable, Mosseri acknowledges the company has work to do. He stated that “we have a lot more work to do” and assured users that Meta teams are “working hard to get this community what they need.” This may include addressing user concerns regarding engagement bait, moderation issues, misinformation, and the algorithmic feed, which have driven some users to seek alternatives like Bluesky.
Mosseri also revealed that Threads has ceased automatically following Instagram connections for new users, as the platform discovered users prefer building their own network on Threads. He also hinted at the potential development of a dedicated direct messaging system for Threads, potentially closing the gap with Bluesky’s current advantage in this area.
While the future of the social media landscape remains uncertain, both Threads and Bluesky are actively vying for users’ attention. Only time will tell which platform ultimately prevails.
