Fri Nov 15 16:23:20 IST 2024: ## Indian Stock Markets Closed Today for Guru Nanak Jayanti
**Mumbai, India** – Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) is suspended today, November 15th, 2024, in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti. This closure affects all segments including Equity, Equity Derivatives, SLB, and Currency Derivatives.
Trading in Commodity Derivatives and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) will also be halted from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, resuming in the evening session. This means both MCX and NCDEX will be inactive during the morning hours.
This holiday marks the third of three stock market closures in November 2024, with Diwali on November 1st and Maharashtra Assembly General Elections on November 20th. Only two more trading holidays remain in 2024: November 20th and Christmas on December 25th.
Despite a weak global market outlook, the Indian stock market closed on Thursday with a sideways to downward trend for the sixth consecutive session. The Nifty 50 closed marginally lower at 23,555 and the BSE Sensex ended six points down at 77,684.
However, the Nifty Bank index rose 139 points to 50,227. In broader market trends, the Small-cap index surged 0.83% and the Mid-cap index gained 0.41%. Cash market volumes on the NSE were near six-month lows, with the advance-decline ratio exceeding 1:1.
