**Imphal, November 15, 2024:** Senior police officers have been deployed to Jiribam district, Manipur, to oversee the search for six people who went missing from a relief camp following a deadly clash between militants and security forces.
The incident occurred on Monday, November 11, when militants attacked the Borobekra police station, resulting in a gunfight that left 10 suspected militants dead. The six missing individuals, three women and three children, resided in a relief camp on the police station premises.
Local civil society organizations allege that the missing persons were kidnapped by retreating militants. A photo of the missing individuals has been circulating on social media, although police have not confirmed their kidnapping.
Candlelight vigils were held in Imphal and Jiribam on Thursday, demanding the immediate release of the missing persons. Demonstrators in Jiribam criticized local politicians, including the MLA, for their inaction in finding the missing individuals.
The Manipur Police are actively coordinating with security forces to locate the missing individuals, with the IG and DIG rank officers personally supervising the search operation.
