Fri Nov 15 11:21:49 UTC 2024: ## Mike Tyson Shows Humility, Apologizes to Man Claiming He Was Robbed as a Child

**Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, known as “The Baddest Man on the Planet,” demonstrated surprising humility while filming for Netflix, apologizing to a man who claimed he was robbed by Tyson as a child.**

The incident occurred during a filming session for Tyson’s upcoming Netflix project, which precedes his first professional fight in nearly 20 years against Jake Paul. While visiting his old neighborhood in New York City, a man approached Tyson, requesting a photo and then accusing him of stealing from him when he was eight years old.

“You robbed me when I was eight years old on Amboy and Pitkin,” the man stated, seemingly in jest. Tyson, taken aback, responded with genuine concern and an apology.

“I robbed you?” Tyson asked. “Now he’s blaming me for robbing him…Yeah, at Woolworth’s. We [Tyson’s film crew] took our pictures in there. I’m sorry.”

The encounter highlights Tyson’s tumultuous past, marked by a difficult childhood marred by poverty and crime. Having grown up in Brownsville, Brooklyn, a notorious poverty-stricken area, Tyson was no stranger to crime, often resorting to it as a means of survival. His troubled youth led to frequent encounters with juvenile detention centers.

However, it was during a period of incarceration that Tyson’s boxing career took flight. A detention center counselor named Bobby Stewart recognized Tyson’s potential and introduced him to legendary trainer Cus D’Amato, who became Tyson’s manager and adoptive father after the loss of his mother.

Tyson, now 58, is set to face off against 27-year-old Jake Paul in a highly anticipated match, set to be streamed live on Netflix. The fight, originally scheduled for July, was postponed due to Tyson’s ulcer flare-up.

Despite the age gap and the contrasting paths of the two fighters, Tyson’s recent display of humility and remorse provides a glimpse into the evolution of the boxing legend, a stark contrast to his “baddest man” persona.
