Fri Nov 15 16:12:35 UTC 2024: ## KSEB Offers Free LED Bulbs to Clear Unsold Stock
**Thiruvananthapuram, November 15, 2024:** The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is facing a surplus of unsold LED bulbs from two energy efficiency programs. To address this, the board has devised a plan to clear the inventory.
The KSEB had procured 1.17 crore 9-watt LED bulbs under the “Filament Free Kerala” program, but 2.19 lakh remain unsold. Additionally, 81,000 LED bulbs procured for the “Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme” (DELP) are also sitting idle. The KSEB attributes the unsold stock to a dip in the market price of LED bulbs, making it difficult to sell the remaining inventory at the original price of ₹65 per bulb.
The KSEB is offering a free bulb for every purchase of two LEDs at ₹65 per bulb for the “Filament Free Kerala” bulbs. However, the DELP scheme bulbs, which have a three-year warranty that expired in 2020, are being offered free of cost to KSEB offices, Anganwadis, government hospitals, and new electricity consumers.
The KSEB is taking these steps to clear its stock and prevent the bulbs from becoming dead inventory.
