Thu Nov 14 22:50:44 IST 2024: ## India Seeks Extradition of Pro-Khalistan Leader Arrested in Canada

**New Delhi, November 15, 2024** – India is pursuing the extradition of Arshdeep Singh Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, a designated pro-Khalistan terrorist arrested in Canada, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced Thursday. Dalla, the de-facto chief of the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), was apprehended by Canadian authorities in Ontario.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that given Dalla’s extensive criminal record in India and continued illegal activities in Canada, India expects his extradition or deportation to face justice. Dalla is wanted in over 50 cases, including murder, attempted murder, extortion, and terrorism-related offenses, and a Red Notice was issued against him in May 2022. The Indian government formally designated him a terrorist in January 2023 and requested his provisional arrest from Canada in July 2023, a request that was initially denied.

Subsequent requests for information under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) were made to verify Dalla’s assets, financial transactions, and communications. The Indian government provided further details to Canada in response to their request for more information.

Dalla, a close associate of slain KTF chief Hardeep Singh Nijjar, allegedly assumed leadership of the KTF following Nijjar’s death in June 2023. He is also linked to the banned Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) and accused of smuggling arms and explosives from Pakistan for various proscribed organizations. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating multiple cases involving Dalla and has arrested several of his associates. The Ontario Court has scheduled a hearing for Dalla’s case. The MEA confirmed that Indian agencies are actively pursuing the extradition request.
