**New Delhi:** Anmol, a 1,500 kg buffalo from Haryana, is making waves at agricultural fairs across India, attracting attention with its impressive size, pedigree, and breeding potential. Valued at a staggering Rs 23 crore, the buffalo has become a social media sensation, drawing crowds at events like the Pushkar Mela and the All-India Farmers’ Fair in Meerut.
Anmol’s luxurious lifestyle comes at a high price. Owner Gill spends around Rs 1,500 daily on its diet, which includes a carefully curated mix of dry fruits, high-calorie foods, and even oil cake, ghee, soybeans, and corn. This specialized menu ensures the buffalo remains in peak condition for exhibitions and breeding. Anmol also receives meticulous grooming, including twice-daily baths and a special almond and mustard oil blend to keep its coat shiny.
The buffalo’s immense value stems from its role in cattle breeding. Anmol’s semen, collected twice a week, is in high demand among breeders, with each extraction valued at Rs 250. This steady income from semen sales generates Rs 4-5 lakh monthly, helping Gill manage Anmol’s substantial upkeep costs.
Despite numerous lucrative offers to sell Anmol at its estimated value, Gill has no intention of parting ways with the buffalo, viewing it as a valued family member. “Anmol is not just a buffalo, he is my pride and joy,” Gill shared.
Anmol’s story highlights the growing commercialization of cattle breeding and the immense value placed on high-quality genetics in the agricultural sector. This remarkable buffalo, with its lavish lifestyle and substantial contribution to the breeding industry, is a testament to the dedication and financial investment involved in modern animal husbandry.
