**Aruppukottai, Tamil Nadu:** A 50-year-old man, Devakumararaja, was rescued from a 70-foot-deep well on Thursday night after he fell while fleeing from stray dogs. The incident occurred at Palayampatti near Aruppukottai.
According to police, Devakumararaja was running away from the dogs when he tripped and fell into the well around 9:30 pm. Fortunately, the well was filled with water, allowing him to swim towards a set of steps.
Quick-thinking onlookers rushed to his aid. A policeman in civilian clothes jumped into the well while locals lowered a ladder. The man was safely pulled out of the well by the policeman, despite the darkness.
This timely intervention by local residents and police ensured the man’s safe rescue.
