Fri Nov 15 10:59:33 UTC 2024: ## Delhi Implements Staggered Office Timings to Combat Traffic and Pollution
**New Delhi, November 15, 2024:** In an attempt to alleviate the city’s persistent traffic congestion and air pollution, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has announced staggered timings for government offices. The new schedule will see MCD offices operate from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Central Government offices from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, and Delhi Government offices from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.
This initiative aims to ease vehicular traffic during peak hours, a significant contributor to the city’s notorious air pollution. Delhi’s air quality has been in the “severe” category for two consecutive days, prompting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to implement GRAP 3 measures. The city’s AQI on Friday reached 411, marking the worst air pollution levels in the country.
This move comes as Delhi grapples with post-Deepavali air quality deterioration, mirroring a similar situation in eastern India’s state capitals. The implementation of staggered office timings is a crucial step towards mitigating Delhi’s environmental challenges and ensuring a healthier future for its citizens.
