Fri Nov 15 17:53:33 UTC 2024: ## Bengaluru Police Bust Mobile Theft Racket Thanks to Unclaimed Parcel

**Bengaluru, November 15, 2024** – A seemingly innocuous unclaimed parcel led Bengaluru police to bust a large-scale mobile phone theft racket operating across states. The case began on October 24th when a courier company reported an undelivered parcel destined for Kerala. Upon contacting the sender unsuccessfully, the company opened the package, discovering 12 stolen mobile phones.

This discovery triggered an investigation by the West division Bengaluru Cybercrime Economic Offences and Narcotic (CEN) police. They arrested a man in Bhadravathi, who confessed to receiving the stolen phones from a four-person gang operating at public events. The accused used courier services to send the phones to other states for resale.

Following his arrest and confession, police raided his residence, recovering 10 more phones. Further investigation led to the arrest of a reseller in Kerala, from whose shop 30 additional stolen phones were recovered.

In total, the operation resulted in the recovery of 52 mobile phones worth ₹10,50,000. The investigation is ongoing, with police pursuing remaining members of the theft ring.
