Fri Nov 15 15:39:16 UTC 2024: ## Visakhapatnam’s Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium Set for January 2025 Reopening
**VISAKHAPATNAM, November 15, 2024** – The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is fast-tracking renovations at the Swarna Bharathi Indoor Stadium in Resapuvanipalem. GVMC Commissioner P. Sampath Kumar inspected the ongoing work Friday and directed officials to complete the facelift by January 2025.
The renovations include installing air conditioning, a CCTV surveillance system, and improved lighting. Existing seating will be replaced with approximately 1,200 new chairs, with the old chairs being relocated to the Indira Priyadarshini Stadium. Commissioner Kumar also ordered the removal of election materials found stored in the stadium. The project is overseen by Chief Engineer Sivaprasad Raju and Additional Commissioner D.V. Ramana Murthy.
