**San Francisco, CA -** Cash App users who experienced unauthorized activity on their accounts due to a 2021 data breach have until **November 18th** to submit a claim for compensation. The settlement, worth $15 million, was reached after a class-action lawsuit alleged that Cash App failed to adequately protect user data.
The breach, which occurred in December 2021, involved a former employee who downloaded the personal information of 8.2 million current and former Cash App Investing customers without their knowledge.
Users who experienced unauthorized or fraudulent activity on their Cash App accounts between **August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024**, are eligible to receive up to **$2,500** in compensation. This includes reimbursement for out-of-pocket losses, lost time spent dealing with the breach, and transaction losses. However, those who have already received reimbursement from Cash App, Block, or a third party are not eligible.
To submit a claim, users must demonstrate that their account was impacted by the breach. They can claim up to three hours of lost time at a rate of $25 per hour. For transaction losses, they must prove they lost money and have not been reimbursed.
Users are advised to submit only one claim, even if they have multiple accounts. They can list all affected accounts on a single form. Further information and instructions on how to submit a claim can be found [HERE](link to Washington Examiner article).
