Fri Nov 15 05:46:10 UTC 2024: ## School Van Overturns Near Jolarpet, One Student Injured
**TIRUPATTUR, November 15, 2024:** A school van carrying students from a private school overturned near Jolarpet town on Friday morning, injuring one student. The incident occurred on the Jolarpet-Puthukovil Main Road at Chinnamotur village, when the van swerved to avoid hitting a dog, losing control and overturning in an open grazing area.
The van was transporting nine students and a teacher from nearby villages to the school in Chinnamotur. All the students except for a fifth-grader, S. Tharaun, escaped unharmed. Tharaun suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Passersby rushed to the scene and rescued the students. They were taken to the government hospital in Jolarpet, where they were treated as outpatients and discharged.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the accident. The driver of the van, D. Vallavan, 45, a native of Tirupattur, is being questioned.
