Fri Nov 15 07:36:00 IST 2024: ## Karnataka Invests in AI, Global Capability Centers, and Organic Farming Hub
**Bengaluru, November 15, 2024:** The Karnataka government is taking significant steps to boost the state’s technological prowess and agricultural sector, as announced by the state cabinet on Thursday.
In a major move to bolster Karnataka’s position as a tech hub, the government approved the establishment of a **Center of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence (AI)** in Bengaluru, with an investment of ₹28 crore. The Department of IT/BT will spearhead this initiative.
Further strengthening the state’s attractiveness for multinational companies, the cabinet also approved a **comprehensive policy for Global Capability Centers (GCCs)**. This policy aims to make Karnataka the preferred destination for MNCs looking to set up operations.
In a bid to promote organic farming and trade, the cabinet has allocated ₹20 crore for setting up an **organic and millet hub at Hebbal in Bengaluru**. This project will be funded by the state and the central government, contributing ₹8 crore and ₹12 crore respectively, under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana.
The Chief Minister has also announced plans to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting an increase in the central government’s allocation for the **PM Awas Yojana**, a housing scheme for low-income individuals. The current allocation stands at ₹1.50 lakh per house, and the Chief Minister aims to secure a higher amount.
