Fri Nov 15 15:30:00 UTC 2024: ## Arshdeep Singh Breaks Record, Leads India to T20I Victory Over South Africa

**Centurion, South Africa:** Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh etched his name into the history books on Wednesday, becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 Internationals among seam bowlers. His impressive performance, which included a crucial three-wicket haul, also helped India secure an 11-run victory over South Africa in the third T20I.

India, after winning the toss, posted a mammoth 219-6 thanks to Tilak Varma’s century (107*) and Abhishek Sharma’s half-century (50). The Proteas chase was hampered early on by wickets from Arshdeep and Varun Chakravarthy, leaving them constantly behind the required run rate.

Arshdeep’s 91st T20I wicket, which dismissed the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen in the 18th over, surpassed Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s previous record of 90 wickets for India among seam bowlers. This achievement is even more remarkable considering Arshdeep has only been playing international cricket for two years, having debuted in November 2022.

With his impressive strike rate of 13.3 balls per wicket, Arshdeep now sits second on the list of most T20I wickets for India, behind only leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (96). The left-arm pacer is well on his way to becoming the first Indian male to reach 100 T20I wickets.

Arshdeep finished the match with figures of 3-37, highlighting his crucial role in securing India’s victory. His continued success and record-breaking achievements make him a key asset for the Indian team in the T20 format.
