**Mount Abu, Rajasthan (India) –** A minor earthquake struck Mount Abu in Rajasthan on Sunday morning at approximately 7:51 AM local time. While the exact magnitude on the Richter scale is yet to be officially released, tremors were felt across several areas including the main market, Nakki Lake, Dundh and Delwara.
The shaking caused a brief period of panic among residents, with many rushing out of their homes. However, thankfully, no injuries or damage have been reported so far.
The cause of the earthquake is attributed to the movement of tectonic plates beneath the Earth’s surface. These plates constantly shift and collide, releasing energy in the form of seismic waves that result in earthquakes. Experts explain that the collision or fracturing of rocks within the Earth’s crust, known as the hypocenter or focus, is the origin point of these seismic waves. The point on the Earth’s surface directly above the hypocenter is called the epicenter.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and have not issued any further alerts.
