**New Delhi:** Guru Nanak Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, is being celebrated across India today, Friday, November 15th. Due to the annual celebration of Guru Nanak Gurpurab, which coincides with Kartik Purnima, banks in several states will remain closed on Friday.

Guru Nanak Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism and one of the most revered Sikh Gurus. The festival is primarily celebrated in North Indian states and falls on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Kartik. This date varies each year based on the lunar calendar, falling in October or November.

According to guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the bank holiday calendar for each year is prepared taking into account national and state-specific festivals, special events, and the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as all Sundays. While Guru Nanak Jayanti is not observed nationwide, banks in several regions will be closed on November 15th.

Banks in the following states will remain closed today: Mizoram, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, Uttar Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and West Bengal.

Other bank holidays in November include Kanakadas Jayanti (Karnataka) on November 18th and Seng Kut Snem (Meghalaya) on November 23rd.
