Wed Nov 13 00:43:39 UTC 2024: ## Airman Jailed for 15 Years After Leaking Classified Pentagon Documents

**Worcester, MA -** Jack Teixeira, a former IT specialist with the Massachusetts Air National Guard, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday for leaking highly sensitive classified documents. Teixeira, who pleaded guilty to six federal counts related to the leak, admitted to posting the documents on the social media platform Discord, from which they spread widely across the internet.

The leak, described as the most damaging in a decade, revealed sensitive information about US military capabilities and intelligence operations, including concerns about Ukraine’s military capacity against Russia, and US surveillance of allies Israel and South Korea.

The documents, which were leaked in April 2023, were accessed by Teixeira while he was on active duty. He will now face a separate military trial for his actions.

Prior to his sentencing, Teixeira expressed regret for his actions, stating, “I want to say that I’m sorry for all of the harm that I’ve brought and that I’ve caused, and that I don’t think I can really sum up how contrite I am.”

The leak, which echoes the 2013 Edward Snowden case, has raised significant concerns about access to high-level secrets by junior staffers and sparked a national security review of security protocols.
