**Washington, D.C.** – President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Rep. Michael Waltz (R-FL) as his next National Security Advisor, according to a post on Truth Social. Trump praised Waltz as a strong supporter of his “America First Foreign Policy Agenda” and a champion of “Peace through Strength.”

Waltz, a decorated Green Beret veteran with extensive experience in Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Africa, has served in Congress since 2018. He is known for his hawkish stance on China, serving on the House China Task Force, and his skepticism regarding further aid to Ukraine. Waltz believes the U.S. possesses leverage over both Ukraine and Russia to negotiate an end to the war, advocating for the removal of restrictions on long-range weapons provided to Ukraine.

Waltz has a long history of service, including nearly three decades in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He has held various positions at the Pentagon and White House, including serving as defense policy director under Secretaries of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Robert Gates. Notably, Waltz’s wife, Julia Nesheiwat, served as Trump’s Homeland Security advisor during his first term.
