Tue Nov 12 23:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Magic’s Bitadze Steps Up Again, Thriving in Carter’s Absence

**Orlando, FL** – Goga Bitadze, the Magic center who stepped up admirably last season when Wendell Carter Jr. was injured, is once again proving his value. With Carter sidelined due to plantar fasciitis, Bitadze has started the last four games for Orlando, averaging a double-double with 10.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, along with 3.0 assists and 1.8 blocks.

“He’s just steady,” praised Head Coach Jamahl Mosley. “He just stays ready the entire time. Doesn’t say a word when he’s asked to do something; he goes out and does it. He’s a great rim protector, does a great job in the pick and roll… He’s a facilitator on offense, getting guys in position in places on the floor.”

Bitadze, who signed a three-year, $25 million deal with the Magic over the summer, enjoys the team atmosphere and believes playing time is secondary to the camaraderie. “The guys (and) the coaching staff make it easy,” he said. “When you’re having joy every single practice, every single day with these guys, playing time is not that important, if you understand what I mean. It’s not that hard.”

The decision to extend Carter’s contract, however, has left some fans and analysts confused. While Carter is the more skilled player, his injury history and the back end of his new contract being potentially overvalued raise concerns.

Some believe the Magic may look to consolidate salaries through a trade in the near future, particularly at the center position where they now have three players vying for minutes. The timing of Carter’s extension and the potential lack of a discount are also being questioned, leading to speculation about the team’s overall strategy.

Bitadze, however, remains focused on his role and is proving to be a valuable asset for the Magic during Carter’s absence. His consistent play and ability to contribute across the board make him a potential hidden gem in today’s NBA.
