**Dhanbad, Jharkhand (November 13, 2024):** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed claims that actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty’s purse was stolen during a rally in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The party insists the purse was merely misplaced and later recovered.
The incident occurred during a rally in support of BJP candidate Aparna Sengupta in the Nirsa Assembly constituency. A video circulating on social media captured a BJP leader announcing through a microphone, “Whosoever has taken Mithun-da’s purse, please return it. This is not the culture of Nirsa.”
However, Dhanbad BJP district president Ghanshyam Grover refuted the pickpocketing allegations. He told PTI that the purse was simply misplaced and subsequently found.
While the authenticity of the viral video has not been independently verified, the BJP maintains that no theft took place.
