**LOS ANGELES** – The highly anticipated eighth installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise has finally revealed its official title: “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” The film, originally intended as “Dead Reckoning Part Two,” will hit theaters on May 23, 2025, after numerous delays due to the pandemic and the recent actors strike.

Tom Cruise, the franchise’s star and producer, unveiled the title and a first look trailer Monday morning, along with the caption “Every choice has led to this.” The trailer showcases a thrilling blend of high-octane action, showcasing Cruise’s signature daredevil stunts, including a perilous underwater exploration of a wrecked submarine and a hair-raising fall from a biplane.

The story picks up directly from the events of “Dead Reckoning Part One,” where Ethan Hunt (Cruise) grappled with the threat of a powerful AI program called The Entity. The new trailer reveals that The Entity is hidden aboard an old Russian submarine, with Ethan facing off against a formidable adversary from his past, Gabriel (Esai Morales).
