**Mumbai, India** – In anticipation of the upcoming merger between Reliance Jio’s Viacom18 and Disney Star, a new OTT platform dubbed “JioStar” has launched its website. While currently only stating “Coming Soon,” the website is expected to feature content from both Viacom18 and Disney Star once it becomes fully operational. The merger is expected to be finalized by November 13.

Initial speculation suggested that the new platform would be hosted under the domain “JioHotstar.” However, a Delhi-based app developer acquired the domain and requested financial support for their studies in exchange for selling it to the companies. Shortly after, the domain was acquired by two residents of Dubai. In a surprising turn of events, the current owners have announced that they will transfer the domain to Reliance Jio free of charge.

The content sharing plan post-merger remains unclear. While earlier reports indicated that JioCinema would merge into Disney+ Hotstar due to its superior technical capabilities, live sporting events, including the highly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL), are expected to remain exclusive to Disney’s Hotstar app.
