Wed Nov 13 08:22:23 UTC 2024: ## 5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Jammu and Kashmir, No Casualties Reported
**Srinagar, November 15, 2023:** A 5.2 magnitude earthquake jolted Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning, causing panic among residents but fortunately, no casualties or damages have been reported so far.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Afghanistan, and the tremors were felt around 10:43 AM in the Kashmir Valley. People rushed out of their homes in fear, but the situation has since returned to normal.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and investigating any potential damage. They have urged residents to stay calm and avoid spreading rumors.
This is not the first seismic event to hit the region this year. In August, the Kashmir Valley experienced two earthquakes, with magnitudes of 3.9 and 4.9, respectively, in the Baramulla district.
The earthquake comes just a day after a 3.5 magnitude earthquake struck Sikkim on Tuesday, November 12. The epicenter was located 16 kilometers west of Gangtok, at a depth of 5 kilometers.
While the tremors have caused anxiety, they are a stark reminder of the region’s vulnerability to seismic activity. Authorities and residents alike remain on high alert, prepared for any potential future events.
