Tue Nov 12 22:20:00 UTC 2024: ## Trump Announces Kelly Loeffler to Lead Inaugural Committee

**ATLANTA, GA** – Former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler of Georgia has been named the chair of President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee, the Trump campaign announced Saturday. Loeffler will co-chair the committee with New York real estate investor Steve Witkoff.

Loeffler, a vocal ally of the former president, served as a senator in 2020 before losing a special election to Democrat Raphael Warnock in 2021. She has been involved in conservative politics since leaving office, and was recently involved in a six-figure ad campaign targeting Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

The appointment comes after Trump won the state of Georgia against Vice President Harris by a surprising margin, picking up 16 electoral votes. Trump has been a vocal supporter of Loeffler, and her appointment to the inaugural committee is seen as a reward for her loyalty.

“On Election Night, we made history,” Trump said in a statement. “The Trump Vance Inaugural Committee will honor this magnificent victory in a celebration of the American People and our nation.”

The committee will plan inaugural events for Trump’s second term, which will be officially sworn in on January 20th, 2025.
