**Kochi, November 13, 2024:** The Kochi City police investigating a drug case involving Omprakash, who has been arrested on multiple charges, have confirmed that a white powder residue recovered from a zip cover in his hotel room at Kundannoor last month was cocaine. This confirmation came after a forensic report.
However, the finding is unlikely to have any significant impact on the case as the quantity of cocaine seized was too small to warrant non-bailable charges. The severity of charges under the NDPS Act is determined by the amount of drugs seized, police sources have confirmed.
Omprakash, along with two other suspects, Shihas and Binu Joseph, were arrested in October for alleged involvement in cocaine smuggling. All three have since been granted bail. The investigation gained significant media attention after the police claimed that actors Sreenath Bhasi and Prayaga Martin were among the 20 individuals who had visited the suspects in their hotel rooms. Both actors were questioned by the police.
The police seized the zip cover containing cocaine residue and four liters of foreign liquor from Shihas’ room. The suspects had booked three rooms in the hotel under the name of Bobby Chalapathy, according to the remand report.
The police investigation is ongoing, with authorities alleging that the suspects were involved in smuggling cocaine from abroad and selling it in Ernakulam and other districts for DJ parties. Despite previous visits to Kochi, they had successfully evaded the police, with Omprakash booking hotel rooms under aliases.
