Tue Nov 12 16:48:20 UTC 2024: ## Russia and China Vow to Counter US “Containment” in Beijing Talks
**BEIJING, November 12, 2024:** Russia and China have pledged to work together to counter what they see as a US-led effort to contain their influence, highlighting their deepening strategic partnership amid escalating tensions with the West.
During a security meeting in Beijing, Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for coordinated action against what they call the US’ “dual containment” policy.
Shoigu, who previously served as Russia’s Defence Minister, described the China-Russia partnership as a “model of collaboration” surpassing traditional interstate relations, underscoring the strength of their alliance. Wang Yi echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the relationship has remained stable and strong despite international challenges.
The two countries’ commitment to counter US influence comes amidst growing military cooperation, including Russia’s recent deployment of the Su-57 stealth fighter at the Airshow China. Although China maintains its neutral stance on the Ukraine conflict, it has been accused by NATO members of enabling Russia’s war efforts.
While China denies providing lethal aid to either side of the conflict, its close political and economic ties with Russia remain a source of concern for Western powers. This meeting serves as a further indication of the growing strategic alignment between Moscow and Beijing, prompting a renewed focus on the implications of this alliance for international security dynamics.
