**Barabanki:** In a tragic incident, a 45-year-old man, Shiv Lal Chauhan, allegedly hanged himself after beating his wife over rumors of her having a court marriage with another man. The incident took place on Tuesday morning in the Kotvadham village under the Badosrayan police station area.
According to reports, Chauhan had been upset for days after hearing about his wife’s alleged court marriage. The couple had been having frequent arguments and tension was brewing between them. On Monday night, Chauhan reportedly beat his wife, further exacerbating the situation.
Devastated by the events, Chauhan left his home on Tuesday morning and hanged himself from a gulmohar tree in a nearby orchard. The body was discovered by locals who immediately informed the police.
The Badosrayan police, led by Inspector Santosh Kumar, arrived at the scene, retrieved the body, and sent it for post-mortem. The wife, seriously injured from the assault, was admitted to a hospital in Lucknow.
The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are awaiting the post-mortem report to determine the cause of death. Further action will be taken based on the investigation findings.
