**Tinsukia, Assam:** A horrific accident claimed the lives of four people, including a five-year-old child, on Tuesday morning when their car plunged into an unfinished culvert on the Tinsukia-Dibrugarh bypass. The family of six, traveling from Bihar to Tinsukia for a wedding, were en route from Dibrugarh when the accident occurred around 4 am.
The Swift Dzire carrying the family veered off the road and plummeted into the under-construction culvert, likely due to poor visibility caused by dense fog and lack of proper signage. Two family members sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh for treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Mohan Shah, Rajesh Gupta, Montu Shah, and the five-year-old child, Arthav Gupta. Local residents, who immediately launched a rescue operation, assisted in transporting the injured to the hospital.
The accident has raised concerns about the unfinished state of the bypass and the lack of safety measures, particularly around the incomplete culvert. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
