Colombo, Sri Lanka – The Sri Lankan cricket team, currently engaged in a One-Day International series against New Zealand at home, will embark on a tour of South Africa after the series concludes. This tour will feature a crucial two-match Test series, vital for the World Test Championship standings, commencing on the 27th of this month. The first Test will take place in Durban, while the second Test will be held in Cape Town.

In preparation for this series, Sri Lanka Cricket has appointed former South African cricketer Neil McKenzie as the team’s batting consultant. McKenzie, a veteran of 58 Test matches, 64 ODIs, and 2 T20Is for South Africa, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He previously served as the batting coach for the Bangladesh national team and also coached for the Bangalore franchise in the Indian Premier League.

McKenzie’s appointment signifies a significant step in Sri Lanka’s strategy to bolster their batting performance for the challenging tour ahead.
